Descrizione

Conchiglia piccola allungata circa 17 mm, molto simile ad una pioccola terebra. Apice appuntito di tre giri e mezzo, bocca piccola e lunga più di un terzo della conchiglia. Sull’ultimo giro si notano 10 – 11 coste assiali ortocline che spariscono verso la base dove si intrecciano con delle deboli strie spirali larghe, tuttavia tra le coste (con una forte lente) lungo tutta la superfice si possono vedere delle strie spirali larghe e debolissime, come anche delle debolissime strie di accrescimento fitte in special modo sull’ultimo giro. Caratteristica è una “corda” trasversale che dalla columella (sembra quasi un dente columellare) si estende lungo il borbo del canale sifonale; generalmente di color bruno scuro può essere anche bianco o dello stesso colore della conchiglia. La colorazione in generale è molto variabile dal bianco al bruno, a fasce o con linee verticali a ziczac

Descrizione

Small elongated shells of around 17 mm similar - to small terebra. A pointed apex of three-and-a-half turns and small mouth measuring more than a third of the the length of the shell itself. One notices 10 – 11 axial ortocline ribs which disappear towards the base where they interlace with the large faint spiral lines. Nevertheless it is possible to see large faint spiral stripes between the ribs along the entire surface- using a strong lens - and also very faint stripes that become increasingly thicker in a rather particular way on the last turn. It possesses a very characteristic transversal “cord or thread” that extends from the columella (almost like a columellar tooth) along the border of the siphonal canal and is generally dark brown in colour but may also be either white or of the same colour as the shell itself. In general the shell colour is very variable going from white to brown in bands or in vertical zig-zag lines.
