Il giorno dell'Epifania del 2007 qualcuno mi telefonò dicendo che sulla spiaggia, a poche centinaia di metri da casa mia, c'erano tante "piccole cipree". Giustamente scettico, in compagnia di un amico appassionato come me di conchiglie, una mezz'ora dopo ero sul posto.  Quello che si presentò ai nostri occhi aveva dell'incredibile. La foto, unica scattata con un limitatissimo telefonino, seppur bruttina, forse riesce a rendere l'idea. Non era altro che il risultato di un "ripascimento morbido" fatto nei giorni precedenti con un'infinità di metri cubi di sabbia prelevata al largo e letteralmente sparata sul nostro arenile per recuperare un pochino di spiaggia mangiata in precedenza dal mare.  Il materiale era stato prelevato, dalla ditta incaricata dei lavori, a circa 80 o 90 metri di profondità piu' o meno al largo di Porto San Giorgio (AP), e dopo pochi giorni di assestamento aveva lasciato in superficie uno splendido, "storico" detrito che ovviamente abbiamo prelevato in quantità industriale.  Vorrei qui mostrarvi le specie fin ad ora determinate di questo materiale, secondo me interessantissimo, dono di quella fantastica Befana del 2007.

The Epiphany of 2007 someone called me saying that on the beach, a few hundred meters from my house, there were many "little cowries." Rightly skeptical, in the company of a friend like me passionate of shells, half an hour later I was on the spot.  Whath we saw was undelievable. The photo, the only one, taken with a very limited mobile phone, albeit ugly, maybe can give the idea. It was simply the result of a "soft nourishment" made in the previous days with tons of cubic meters of sand taken off and literally shot on our beach to get a little bit of beach previously eaten by the sea.  The material was taken, by the company behind the project, about 80-90 more or less feet deep off the coast of Porto San Giorgio (AP), and after a few days of settlement had left in the surface a beautiful, "historical" debris that obviously we have taken in industrial quantities.  Here I would like to show you right now, certain species of this material very interesting for me, the gift of great Epiphany of 2007.
