I molluschi terrestri hanno, come noto, una scarsa mobilità e non trovano correnti marine che possano trasportare le uova in altri luoghi. Il mezzo di diffusione più frequente è quello aviario ma, più di questo, almeno per le specie di più grandi dimensioni, è il trasporto effettuato dall'uomo per scopi alimentari. In tempi più recenti sono entrati in italia molluschi usati negli acquari o presenti in vasi di fiori.
