Dopo circa trenta anni di amicizia e di rapporti malacologi e personali, molto intensi, mi trovo a dover scrivere queste righe per ricordare l'amico Libero.
 Negli ultimi anni, dopo la scoperta della sua malattia, abbiamo molto parlato di cosa fare, come affrontare la situazione prima e dopo la sua dipartita. Ne parlavamo tranquillamente come cosa certa e inevitabile ma senza paure.
 Di sicuro la ricerca non si sarebbe dovuta fermare e nel maggio 2011 mi diceva: "occorre pubblicare".
 Mi trovo così ad onorare l'impegno preso con la pubblicazione di questa monografia iconografica che, da sola, compendia tutto il lavoro svolto e la gran

 Quel che ritengo giusto raccontare di lui è la grande forza di volontà che l'ha spinto, per raggiungere i fini della sua ricerca, a vivere ben oltre le previsioni mediche comunicate.
 Dedicando a lui questo mio grande lavoro sento di non aver sprecato i mesi e mesi che vi ho dedicato. Se qualche classificazione è errata, sarò grato a quanti vorranno comunicarmelo per le opportune rettifiche.
