La proposta di ricerca malacologica, presentata dall’associazione Verde Realtà e dalla Società Romana di Scienze Naturali, è stata accolta dall’Ente con grande entusiasmo perché va a colmare una lacuna in un campo di ricerca che viene troppo spesso trascurato. Con la realizzazione di questo progetto l’Ente spera di contribuire alla conoscenza di un ambiente naturale ricco e affascinante. La rilevanza dei molluschi è data dalla biomassa che, specialmente in ambienti calciofili, è molto alta. E’ quindi importante il loro ruolo nella catena trofica; i molluschi fanno parte, infatti, della dieta alimentare di molti animali, sia Vertebrati che Invertebrati. La conchiglia dei gasteropodi viene sfruttata poi come rifugio o nido da molte specie animali, e riveste un carattere di rilievo anche in assenza dell’animale stesso. Dalla ricerca avanzata dall’associazione Verde Realtà ci si attende dunque, oltre ad un elenco preliminare delle specie di molluschi terrestri e di acque dolci, anche un monitoraggio biologico sullo stato di conservazione degli ambienti che ospitano la malacofauna all’interno della nostra area protetta. |
The malacological research proposal introduced by the association Verde Realtà and by the Società Romana di Scienze Naturali, was welcome with great enthusiasm by our Company because it fills a gap in a field of research too often neglected. With this project our Company hopes to contribute to the knowledge of a rich and fascinating natural environment. The molluscs are relevant because of their biomass, which, especially in calcareous environments, is very high, making their role in the trophic chain very important: in fact the molluscs are part of the food diet of many animals both Vertebrates and Invertebrate. The shell of the gastropods is later utilized as shelter or nest by many animal species and it also assumes an important role in the absence of the animal itself. Therefore from the research accomplished by Verde Realtà we expects, besides a preliminary list of the species of terrestrial and fresh water molluscs, a biological monitoring of the conservation level of the environment that hosts the malacofauna within our protected area. |
